Kapanlagi.com - Comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono was present at the mourning house of the late Gusti Irawan Wibowo alias Gustiwiw in the Pondok Melati area, Bekasi, on Sunday (15/6/2025). Speaking to the media, Pandji reminisced about the moment he first received the sad news.
Pandji admitted that he learned about Gustiwiw's passing via social media. He stated that he hadn’t been able to check his phone throughout the morning until he finally read a post on platform X (formerly Twitter).
"I think I got the information around 11 AM maybe because I wasn't checking my phone, and then after that I checked social media and saw it on X. The first thing I saw was Ryan's tweet, he said he was just about to invite to meet up and then I knew someone had passed away," said Pandji.
After reading the post, Pandji immediately confirmed the news he read. He sought information from other posts on social media and eventually got confirmation from his comedian friends.
"Well, if I'm not mistaken, the tweet after that was from Rigen or Rispo talking about the late person, then I hurriedly searched for information everywhere and it turned out to be true, I was really shocked. He had just contributed to the OST of the movie GJLS, that's how I found out about it," he reminisced.
Pandji last met Gustiwiw at the gala premiere of the movie GJLS: IBUKU IBU-IBU. He had shown his affection by kissing Gustiwiw's head when they met. However, after that, they did not have a chance to communicate further.

"The last time we met was at the GJLS premiere. At that time I was invited to meet him and I got to kiss his head. Then I got busy watching, and after that, we didn't meet again. So I just found out about this," he explained.
Even though they only crossed paths, Pandji remembers Gusti as a warm person. He feels that Gustiwiw's departure is a great loss, especially for the world of comedy and music in Indonesia.
"It's not just because I care about him, he also cared about me. We met a few times, he even filled in for my event too. So when we met, it was more like, 'oh, there's Gusti,' and just hugs and kisses. That's it. When we both found out about GJLS, we just went our separate ways, I was in a hurry too," Pandji revealed.
After receiving the sad news, Pandji immediately tried to contact the close friend of the deceased to confirm the information. However, he had to wait for a while until the news was truly confirmed.
"The person I WhatsApped is Rispo. But Rispo didn’t reply right away, so I WhatsApped Rigen. Rigen is quicker, Rigen gives the news. But he said he didn’t know what time the body would arrive here. I asked Abdur in the WhatsApp group, he said if it’s not after Dzuhur, then after Ashar," he said.
Regarding the cause of Gustiwiw's death, Pandji admitted that he only heard the news that the musician passed away while in Bandung. He does not know for sure what the deceased was doing there.
"I don’t know what he was doing in Bandung. I just got the info that he died in Bandung while in the bathroom," added Pandji.
Pandji also shared his personal reflection on the passing of his friend. According to him, Gustiwiw's departure brings blessings because the Indonesian people now recognize the immense talent that the deceased possessed.
"I was also thinking about that on the way, assuming friends would ask, then I was thinking about what I should say. What should be appreciated is that in the last year, Indonesia has come to know how talented Gusti was, how genius he was, how musical he was. Maybe now we would say, 'it's a shame he was just about to rise, but his name was called'. But for me, it’s a blessing because Gusti left this world with a deep impression and with Indonesia knowing who he was and how extraordinary he was," said Pandji.
As a closing, Pandji prayed that the family left behind would be given strength and hoped that the spirit of creativity left by Gustiwiw could continue to inspire.
"I pray, I express my condolences to those left behind, my friend. Through his works or comedy or cheerfulness, he gives us the spirit to create and optimize ourselves," he concluded.
