Actor Ammar Zoni
made a surprising move right after
being sentenced to seven years in prison by the Panel
of Judges at the Central Jakarta District Court. The former
wife of Irish Bella officially ended
his cooperation with his former legal team and
appointed Krisna Murti Law &
Partners as his new legal counsel.
This decision was made by Ammar when he met
with the new legal team in the detention room shortly
after the verdict session ended. This change was made to
handle the legal process at
a higher level following Ammar's dissatisfaction
with the results of the first-level trial.

"In relation to this, Ammar Zoni has appointed us, Krisna Murti Law & Partners, as his legal counsel to carry out all ongoing legal processes," said Ammar Zoni's lawyer, Dwana Toligi, when met in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Thursday (24/4/2026).

This appointment marks the end of Jon Mathias's role in defending Ammar Zoni's drug case. Dwana Toligi emphasized that the relationship with the old legal counsel has been declared concluded based on Ammar Zoni's direct statement in front of his new team.

According to Dwana, his team will quickly move to fulfill Ammar's wishes. This step is taken to provide legal certainty for his client who feels that the previous decision did not deliver justice.

"And for that, the previous legal counsel, as we met with Ammar Zoni earlier, Ammar Zoni conveyed that he has ended the attorney-client relationship with his previous counsel, Ammar Zoni, up to the level of the District Court, up to this stage. So for that, we as Ammar Zoni's legal counsel will continue what Bang Ammar desires, that's it," said Dwana Toligi.

The administrative process for the new power of attorney has been completed. Ammar Zoni fully entrusts his fate to the Krisna Murti team to face the next legal stage.
"As of today, Bang Ammar has become our client, Krisna Murti Law Office," said Dwana.

Regarding the detailed reasons for the termination of the relationship with the old lawyer, Dwana emphasized that it was purely Ammar's own desire. Their side is merely carrying out a professional mandate in accordance with the current needs of the client.

"From the communication, it is actually Ammar Zoni who ends it. So actually, if the old legal counsel is just a formality, we understand based on Ammar Zoni's own statement that the old legal counsel has reached the level of the District Court. The stages have ended like that," concluded Dwana Toligi.
