Ammar Zoni Denies the Testimony of the Prison Officer Regarding the Drug Discovery in the Cell

The trial of the drug trafficking case inside the prison involving actor Ammar Zoni and several other defendants at the Central Jakarta District Court revealed several new facts.

In the agenda to hear witness statements from the detention center officers, two defendants, Andi Mualim and Ammar Zoni, filed objections. They argued that the testimony of witness Eka Karjareja contained many inaccuracies and did not correspond to the conditions during the search in early 2025.

Andi Mualim became one of those who reacted when the witness said he only stayed silent during the search. He denied the narrative that claimed he was shocked and did not resist verbally when the officers found the evidence. Andi emphasized that he had already provided a rebuttal since the first time the officers suspected the clothing box in his cell.

"When the items were found, I said they weren't mine, please check the others as well. But the witness explained that I just stayed silent. I did not stay silent; I objected," said Andi Mualim in front of the judge.

The debate continued regarding a locked box found in the corner of the room. The witness claimed that the box was under Andi's control, but Andi argued that the place was a public area. Since the incident had occurred almost a year ago, the witness was seen forgetting to provide detailed explanations regarding the ownership of the box several times.

"In that corner, there is indeed a place for the wardrobe, and there are many boxes there. And that doesn't belong to me," said Andi Mualim.

Ammar Zoni also provided a defense regarding the capacity of the cell that was mentioned by a witness during the trial. According to Ammar, the witness's statement about the number of occupants does not match the reality on the ground.

This is an important point for the defendants to prove that access to the room is not only held by one or two people.

"Everything is wrong, Your Honor. First regarding capacity, there are four people in my room. I am indeed alone upstairs, but there are three people downstairs," explained Ammar Zoni.

Ammar added that he feels it is unfair if the testimonies given contain many elements of ignorance or forgetfulness. He also highlighted the fact that he was already taken out of the cell before the search was completed.

For Ammar, this proves that he did not directly see how the evidence was found by the officers. "Secondly, at the time of the search (when the evidence was found) I was not at the crime scene, Your Honor. I had already been taken out front," concluded Ammar Zoni.
