As the trial approaches, the health and mental condition of Ammar Zoni is in the spotlight. Ammar's attorney, Jon Mathias, confirmed that his client is in good condition and receiving very humane treatment while detained at Cipinang Prison.

During his visit today, Jon Mathias shared the human side of Ammar's life behind bars. The prison authorities were deemed very cooperative in fulfilling Ammar's basic rights and simple requests to maintain his mental health.

"Yes, as we said earlier, the conditions are good. Alhamdulillah, the treatment from Cipinang Prison is also good. Amar asked for Padang rice and they bought it for him, he also asked for chess and they got that for him too. So the service here is still humane," Jon Mathias stated at Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Wednesday (17/12/2025).

Jon Mathias appreciates the performance of the Head of the Prison (Kalapas) and his staff who are not rigid in applying the rules, yet remain disciplined. Simple facilities like chess are provided so that Ammar does not feel bored while waiting for the legal process.

"For example, in front of us, they bought Padang rice because Amar asked for it. Immediately, Mr. Kalapas provided Padang rice. Then he asked for chess so he wouldn't get bored, and it was bought for him. This means we appreciate how the service is provided by Kalapas and his team," he said.

Physically, Ammar Zoni's appearance is said to have undergone a significant positive change. Jon mentioned that his client looks more well-groomed compared to before.

"There’s nothing, actually the service. Yes, Amar will later see everything, his body is already what, good, clean. Yes, it means the service. And he also told us, right, good," said Jon Mathias.

However, there is a slight note regarding Ammar's weight which had experienced a quite drastic increase. This is suspected to be due to an uncontrolled eating pattern some time ago."Wow, already 15 kilos, Bro. Up. Yes. So, the eating isn’t good. Hopefully not, I don’t want to get dirty. But tomorrow he will be present there directly," he explained.

The temporary transfer to a detention center closer to the trial location also makes communication between Ammar and the legal team smoother. Although still limited by glass partitions, face-to-face interaction is felt to be much more effective.

"It's easier to communicate with the lawyer too. For example, now we have communicated. He comes, yes, when we communicate, there is indeed a mirror, right? A mirror, but we can see each other directly. So yes, it's according to SOP. We implemented everything earlier," concluded Jon Mathias.
