The psychological condition of Muhammad Ammar Akbar, also known as Ammar Zoni, in detention has come under scrutiny after he suddenly decided to change his legal team. Speculation arose that there was pressure from his family behind Ammar's decision to revoke the power from Jon Mathias and switch to Krisna Murti.

Kamelia, Ammar Zoni's girlfriend, strongly denied allegations of external intervention or influence from Ammar's siblings. According to her, the decision to choose a new legal captain was purely based on Ammar Zoni's own considerations for his future.

"So, the family and I are not, not forcing Bang Ammar to change his lawyer (PH). All decisions are in Bang Ammar's hands. No matter how Bang Ammar's life is, his future is his future," said Kamelia when met in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta, Monday (11/05/2026).

Kamelia did not deny that her boyfriend's mental condition is indeed unstable due to the pressure of the prolonged case and his status as an addict.

Kamelia's statement was supported by Panji, Ammar Zoni's younger brother who was also present on that occasion. As someone who often hears Ammar's complaints, Panji confirmed that the decision was made consciously by Ammar without pressure.

"Yes, Bang Ammar said... that's Bang Ammar's own decision. Honestly, I'm a close friend who heard it, right? If it really is, then it is," Panji emphasized regarding his brother's choice.

Kamelia explained that Ammar's unstable nature made her hesitant to revoke the power from the old lawyer who had been handling his case from the beginning. This was due to the emotional closeness that had developed over time between Ammar and Jon Mathias.

"He is very confused. So at that point, I and Bang Ammar's siblings decided not to interfere, let Bang Ammar choose who he wants to be his attorney to continue this case," Kamelia added.

However, for the sake of the upcoming Judicial Review (PK) process, Kamelia advised Ammar to focus on only one legal team. For her, having dual lawyers would only hinder coordination and the legal strategy being developed.
