Ammar Zoni Transferred to Nusakambangan, Kamelia the Girlfriend Shocked and Worried About Mental Condition

Shocking news comes from actor Muhammad Ammar Akbar, better known as Ammar Zoni. The 32-year-old man was suddenly transferred to the Nusakambangan Correctional Institution in Cilacap, Central Java, on Friday night, May 8, 2026.

Ammar Zoni's girlfriend, Dr. Kamelia, expressed her shock upon hearing the sudden transfer news. She stated that the family feels traumatized because Ammar actually just needs spiritual guidance and support from his loved ones to recover from drug addiction.

"Yes, of course I'm shocked. Yes, I'm definitely shocked because, as I mentioned, Bang Ammar always conveyed to his younger sibling, to me as well, that he is very traumatized because, again, he is not a criminal; he just needs to recover from addiction and he needs his close ones," Kamelia said when met in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta, on Monday (11/05/2026).

Kamelia added that during his time at the Jakarta Narcotics Prison, Ammar's mental state was already very stressed due to his classification as high-risk.

Kamelia is worried that transferring to the Super Maximum Security Prison will further deteriorate Ammar's mental state. She described Ammar's previous condition as very suffering due to rarely being exposed to sunlight and only being able to engage in activities in a cramped cell.

"Not crazy, thank God, in my opinion, because surely other people may not be as strong as Bang Ammar, you know. Because he said in the Narcotics Prison, 'what I see is just a wall, sleeping on a prayer mat, not getting sunlight,'" Kamelia explained with a sad tone.

The background of this transfer was carried out after Ammar Zoni was sentenced to 7 years in prison for drug abuse cases. This high-risk classification means Ammar must serve his sentence in Karang Anyar Prison with a one-person-per-cell system.

Ammar Zoni's group departed from Jakarta at 11:55 PM WIB and arrived in Nusakambangan on Saturday morning at 6:55 AM WIB. This very fast and closed transfer process is the main reason the family feels very devastated and unprepared.

Currently, Ammar's access to communication with the outside world is very limited due to strict security protocols. Kamelia mentioned that based on previous experience, communication is only allowed once a week and even then it is very limited for the legal team.

The family is very concerned about Ammar's spiritual and moral safety while he is on the prison island. They hope Ammar can remain strong during the remainder of his sentence despite being far from the physical support of his siblings.

Through the legal team, the family plans to continue monitoring Ammar's condition in Nusakambangan. Their main focus right now is to ensure Ammar's basic rights as an inmate are upheld during this period of separation.
