Ammar Zoni's Rehabilitation Assessment Application Granted, Lawyer Says Potential Punishment Will Be Light

Kapanlagi.com - Ammar Zoni can now breathe a little easier after his rehabilitation assessment application was granted by the judge of the West Jakarta District Court. This was announced by the judge during the continuation of the drug case trial.

Currently, Ammar Zoni is still detained at Salemba Detention Center, Central Jakarta, while waiting for the Public Prosecutor to execute the judge's decision. Therefore, Jon will continue to coordinate with the relevant prosecutors regarding this matter.

"With these trial facts, the panel of judges is increasingly convinced that Ammar needs to undergo a medical assessment, and that decision has been issued," said Jon Mathias, Ammar Zoni's lawyer, after the trial on Monday (3/6/2024).

"Maybe it will be implemented soon, we just have to wait for the prosecutor to execute it. Earlier, we coordinated with the prosecutor, they said they are still waiting for the official decision from the judge," Jon Mathias continued.

1. Rehabilitation

According to Jon, it is important for Ammar Zoni to undergo rehabilitation for his dependence on drugs. Therefore, Jon expresses his gratitude to the West Jakarta District Court for granting the request for Ammar Zoni's rehab assessment.

"We believe that the possibility of rehabilitation is high. There is hope," said Jon.

Jon is also confident that the potential sentence to be imposed by the judge will be light, especially since the request for rehabilitation has been approved.

"At the very least, Ammar will receive a lenient punishment," Jon Mathias concluded.

2. Ammar Zoni's Case

As a reminder, Ammar Zoni has been involved in drug cases three times before. Most recently, he was apprehended by the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Unit in one of the apartments in the BSD area, South Tangerang, on December 12, 2023.

After his arrest, the police successfully seized four packages of crystal methamphetamine and one package of marijuana as evidence. Currently, the case is being tried at the West Jakarta District Court.
