Film 'SHERINA'S ADVENTURE 2' Will Enliven the Festival of Australian-Indonesian Cinema

Kapanlagi.com - The Festival of Australian-Indonesian Cinema or FSAI is ready to be held from May 31 to June 23, 2024. The ninth edition of this event is very special as it coincides with the celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Australia.

"This year is very special because we are commemorating the seventy-fifth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Australia. Films play a significant role in creating relationships between individuals, communities, and nations. Films break cultural and language barriers and promote understanding between the two countries," said Penny Williams, the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, in a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/5/2024).

1. Additional Four Cities

On the occasion of the celebration, the screening locations were revealed, totaling ten cities. Including Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Padang, Manado, Samarinda, Makassar, Mataram, and Balikpapan.

"This year's event will be bigger than the previous year. We quickly expanded to ten cities, with four additional cities compared to last year. For the first time, we bring it to Padang, Samarinda, Balikpapan, and Manado," added Penny Williams.

2. One Indonesian Film Screened

The Australia Indonesia Cinema Festival is supported by Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. This is the fourth time Sandiaga has accompanied the film festival, which aims to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.

"For four years, I have been accompanying this festival, starting from when we could only meet through zoom because we couldn't meet in person. This year, what I appreciate is that one Indonesian film is also screened in ten cities," said Sandiaga.

The Australian films screened include BLUEBACK, LOVE IS IN THE AIR, I AM WOMAN, SCARY GIRL, and the one that caught the attention of film lovers when it was shown in Indonesia, TALK TO ME. Also, one title by filmmakers Riri Riza and Mira Lesmana titled PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2.
