Annoyed by Being Charged with Extortion, Isa Zega Challenges the Pocong Oath

Instagram celebrity Isa Zega expressed his annoyance at the Public Prosecutor (JPU) who charged him with extortion. While venting his frustration, he challenged to perform mubahalah or the pocong oath.

"I invite to take the pocong oath, because perhaps I no longer trust the Public Prosecutor. This pocong oath is merely a tradition, and mubahalah is mentioned in the holy book Al-Qur'an. If he is willing and I am willing, then right this moment. We have already sent the letter, but it has not been responded to. You can interpret that yourselves," said Isa Zega at the Malang District Court.

The person named Adrena Isa Zega stated that during the trial process regarding the charges against him related to defamation, he was accused of tarnishing the reputation of the complainant who was pregnant at the time through curse-laden content. The JPU imposed extortion charges with a threat of five years in prison. Therefore, Isa Zega challenged to perform the pocong oath.

"But I am being charged with extortion, even though the evidence in the case file and the facts in court show there is no such thing as extortion, no transfer of money, and no threats. This is even acknowledged by witness Shandy Purnamasari," said Isa Zega.

"So how could I have extorted anyone? In my 42 years of living on this earth, since I migrated 25 years ago, I have never extorted anyone," he added.

Isa Zega suspects that there has been a mismanagement and requests the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate and oversee the handling of his case. He also stated that he will report it to the Attorney General's Commission in Jakarta.

"All prosecutors who receive punishment, remember my face! Whether it's from their family, their children, if a major disaster happens to their family, then remember my face! In this world and the hereafter, I will not forgive," he stated.

Isa Zega believes that the trial is not fair until the prosecution process and hopes that the judge will give a just verdict according to the facts in the trial. He is optimistic that the judge will acquit him in his case.

"We will see the verdict later. My hope is, first I pray to God. And I hope for the judge, until now I still believe that the judge will decide that I am acquitted," he asserted.

Lawyer Isa Zega, Pitra Romadoni Nasution added that no evidence of money, bank books, fund transfers, or economic value flows were found. In fact, evidence of a request for a certain amount of money was never found.

"So if indeed there is no evidence in the case file about the extortion, we certainly have to test it with a mubahalah oath. Because in our opinion this is already absurd, we have reported it to the Attorney Commission regarding the indictment against our client," he stated.

Defendant Isa Zega was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rp10 million by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) team during the indictment hearing at the Kepanjen District Court on Wednesday (30/4/2025). The JPU, consisting of Darmawati Lahang SH, Novita Maharani SH MH, Ari Kuswadi SH, and David Christian Lumban Gaol SH, mentioned several aggravating factors for the defendant, namely being convoluted and complicating the trial.
