Busy Schedule, Kris Dayanti's Story Registers as a Candidate for Mayor of Batu City Via Zoom

The artist, who is also a member of the Indonesian Parliament, Kris Dayanti, registered herself as a Candidate for Mayor of Batu City through the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan). Kris Dayanti submitted the registration form to the Screening Committee for Candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Batu City's PDI Perjuangan Regional Leadership Council.

However, due to busy schedule reasons, KD as she is popularly known, only attended online via zoom. She admitted to being unable to attend in person because she had to complete tasks and obligations, including the National Working Meeting of the PDIP Central Board and a working visit of the Indonesian Parliament to Beijing.

"But I will visit Batu City directly on June 6-8, 2024, after completing the existing activities," she said on Thursday (May 23, 2024).

KD through his representative took the form on Monday (6/5) and returned it today, Thursday (23/5/2024). The online form submission was done in front of the Selection Committee Team 9 through a zoom meeting connection.

KD is competing for the recommendation to run as the Mayor of Batu from PDIP in the 2024 Regional Election. He admitted to receiving a lot of encouragement from the community to run as the head of the region in his birthplace.

However, the decision to contest in the 2024 Regional Election is entirely up to the party's decision. "I ask for your prayers and blessings, both to the Central Executive Board, East Java Regional Board, Batu PDIP Regional Board, and branch members. Because this party's decision will be an inevitability, especially since we all know that we are all aligned with the party's leadership," he said.

KD himself is a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives 2019-2024 from the Electoral District V Malang Raya (Malang Regency, Malang City, and Batu City). He ran for the 2024 Legislative Election from the same Electoral District and Party, but his name did not appear in the list of elected Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Team 9 of the PDIP Batu City Branch, Simon Purwoali, stated that the online submission of forms is allowed considering the urgent situation of the concerned party.

"Although it is actually very important for KD to be present in order to show his seriousness as a candidate leader of Batu City through the PDIP Batu City Branch," he said.

Meanwhile, 9 names have taken the forms, but only 4 names have returned the forms. Those who have returned the forms are Didik Gatot Subroto (Deputy Regent of Malang), Inol (ASN), Punjul Santoso (Former Deputy Mayor of Batu) and Kris Dayanti.
