Called a Blessing, Malaysian Actress Anna Jobling Grateful to Be Involved in Baim Wong's Latest Film

Kapanlagi.com - The horror film Lembayung directed by Baim Wong marks the debut for the beautiful Malaysian actress, Anna Jobling, in Indonesian cinema.

In this film, Anna plays the character Dr. Tantri, a role that is different from her previous acting experiences.

Anna shared that she got involved in this project after meeting Baim Wong directly in Malaysia.

"Yes, this is my first film in Indonesia, so the casting process was that Kak Baim came to Malaysia and met me, and the first thing I was told to do was smile. So that's how Kak Baim chose me to be Tantri," said Anna Jobling at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Friday (13/9/2024).

Interestingly, even though she has never acted in a Malaysian film, Anna decided to accept the challenge of acting in Indonesia.

"Why did I choose to act in a film here? Because this is a challenge for me since I have never acted in a film in Malaysia. So, this is actually my first film," she said.

In addition to offering new challenges, Anna feels very grateful to have the opportunity to work with a solid team in Indonesia. The cast and crew made her feel comfortable like at home.

"So, this is one of the blessings for Anna and Anna is very grateful to have the chance to work here with the cast, crew, director, and production who are very good, and they made me feel like it’s my home," she said.

"If Anna doesn’t know anything, I can ask them and they are very helpful to me, so I'm very thankful," she added.

2. Screening Abroad

The excitement of making this film does not stop in Indonesia. According to Baim Wong, the director, Lembayung will also be screened in Malaysia due to the great enthusiasm from film distributors in that country.

"Malaysia is also interested, Malaysia was the first to request to screen it there, there are 4 major distributors contacting me competing for it, because Anna Jobling is there," said Baim Wong.

This film is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 19, 2024, and will not only be shown in Indonesia and Malaysia but also has the potential to be screened in several other countries. In addition to Anna Jobling, the film Lembayung also stars Yasamin Jasem, Taskya Namya, Oka Antara, Anna Jobling, Erick Estrada, and Asri Welas.
