Erick Estrada Asserts It's Better to Fight 10 People than to Meet One Ghost

Kapanlagi.com - Actor Erick Estrada has just experienced a new chapter in his acting career through the horror film 'LEMBAYUNG' directed by Baim Wong. This film marks his debut in the horror genre after previously being known for starring in comedy films more often.

"This is the first time I stepped out of my comfort zone in comedy and acted in a horror film," said Erick Estrada at a press conference held at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, on Friday (13/9/2024).

1. Originally Cowardly

In this film, Erick Estrada plays a character named Moming. He admitted that this experience was very memorable, especially because he is actually a cowardly person.

In fact, Erick joked that he would rather fight 10 people than face one ghost.

"Baim Wong entrusted Erick Estrada to portray the character Moming, which is very memorable. First, because I am cowardly, I would rather fight 10 people than one ghost," said Erick while laughing.

"(During filming) There were 10 crew members in front of me, because I am cowardly. I swear. There had to be people in front of me (during the take). I even read Ayat Kursi, said bedtime prayers, I swear. I memorized it, but I was so scared," Erick added.

2. Had a Misunderstanding

Even funnier, Erick had a misunderstanding when he accepted this project. He thought that 'LEMBAYUNG' was a film set in Javanese culture. However, when he read the script, he realized that this film is a horror set mostly in a hospital.

"I thought Lembayung was a Javanese film, I signed the contract, then when I read it, the scenes were in a hospital, and then, oh it's horror, I was trapped," said Erick, then laughed.

3. Give a Unique Experience

Erick also expressed that this film gave him a unique experience because his character is not much involved in action scenes or "riding" like in previous films.

"This is the first time I am a player who doesn't ride, is useless, yes in this film, hahah. It's useless, I ride, I read it's not used, on the shooting location it often changes," concluded Erick.
