"If it's a declaration, the petitioner must attend. Because he is the one who recites the declaration, right?" explained Dede Rika.

Nevertheless, the court allows some leniency if Bedu is unable to attend due to urgent reasons or filming commitments. The 45-year-old comedian is permitted to delegate his presence, but with fairly strict and specific administrative requirements. "It can be delegated with a special power of attorney for the declaration," he added.

Regarding the respondent or ex-wife, her presence at the talaq declaration hearing is not mandatory, although the court will still send an invitation to the hearing. Considering the previous decision was made in absentia, it is highly likely that Anggie will also not attend this declaration reading session.

"If it's a declaration, then the petitioner must attend," emphasized Dede Rika, reiterating that important point.

The divorce of Bedu and Anggie indeed surprised the public, considering their marriage, which had lasted for about 15 years, was rarely subjected to negative gossip. Bedu filed for divorce from his wife on the grounds of irreconcilable differences that could no longer be fixed.
