Considered Gay Because of Kissing Photo with a Guy, Jefri Nichol: I Actually Don't Care

Kapanlagi.com - Last April, Jefri Nichol uploaded a photo on Instagram showing him kissing a guy. The action immediately caused a stir on social media, as seen from the tens of thousands of comments flooding the post.

The majority of netizens were shocked and disbelieved at what Jefri Nichol did. Despite the controversy, Jefri Nichol did not close his comment section and allowed netizens to freely express their opinions on his post.

Because of the kissing photo with the same sex, many assumed that Nichol is gay. When asked by the media about the allegations, the 23-year-old actor admitted that he was not too concerned.

"I don't really care. That was just a joke photo with my friend," Nichol said, when met in the Duren Tiga area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (31/5/2022).

When the public finally found out that Jefri Nichol's actions were just a joke, many comments referred to it as queerbaiting. However, Nichol denied it. Queerbaiting itself is a popular term where a heterosexual person does something to attract the attention of the LGBTQ community.

"Many people say it's queerbaiting, I apologize if it's included in queerbaiting. But it's purely a joke. The question is, where is the limit of joking, especially when it comes to my own friend. Sorry, if many think it's queerbaiting. I do it for fun," explained Nichol.

2. No Obligation to Guard Feelings

In every post on social media, whether on Instagram or Twitter, Jefri Nichol admits that he only does it for his own pleasure. He doesn't feel the need to guard everyone's feelings.

"What I post on social media is for my own pleasure. And it's not my obligation to guard everyone's feelings," he said firmly.

3. Focus on Work and Business

For now, Jefri Nichol wants to focus on developing his acting career and business. As for relationships, the former girlfriend of Shenina Cinnamon admits that she hasn't thought about it too much.

"It's not time yet, there's no target, I'm not dealing with that kind of thing. Just focus on work and business," he said.
