Ernest Prakasa Tries to Break Beauty Standards in the Entertainment Industry Through 'IMPERFECT THE SERIES'

Kapanlagi.com - Ernest Prakasa is the scriptwriter and executive producer of IMPERFECT THE SERIES which highlights the lives of Geng Kosan with Neti, Maria, Endah, and Prita. Through this series, which is a spin-off of the film IMPERFECT, Ernest wants to break down the double standards that exist in the industry.

First, he cast four actresses whose names are not yet well-known as the main cast. Second, the cast members such as Kiky Saputri, Aci Resti, Neneng Risma Wulandari, and Zsa Zsa Utari were deliberately chosen to break the beauty standards in society.

"Being involved in this series, I feel incredibly proud and grateful. Because it's not easy, it's not common, for a series to prioritize unknown actors who are not big stars. These girls are not the beautiful girls like the beauty standards that are spread in beauty product advertisements," Ernest said during a press conference via Zoom on Wednesday (13/1/2021).

"They are unique. The opportunity to present this series is an extraordinary privilege," he added.

1. Since the Reading Process

Ernest Prakasa sees the potential of Geng Kosan to be explored further in the form of a series that has emerged since the reading process for his film. Although in the film version Kiky Saputri and others have already attracted attention, there are still many things that can be explored.

"The idea for this series came up during the preparation for IMPERFECT. So during the reading, I saw their chemistry, the four of them blending, and I already had a feeling that they could be explored further because the film didn't have enough room," explained Meira Anastasia's husband.

"Although they attracted attention in the film, I think they deserve a bigger stage. So I told Pak Parwez (the producer) that the four of them have the potential to be made into a series," he added.

2. Female Director

Ernest Prakasa entrusted the series, which consists of 12 episodes and will be aired on We TV, to be led by Naya Anandita. Considering the theme it carries, it is necessary for the series to be directed by a female director.

"I am happy to give female directors the opportunity to direct this series. Because it addresses issues such as body shaming, beauty standards, insecurities, it is most appropriate to be brought by a female director," said Ernest.
