Fahmi Bo Reveals His Impressions of Playing Gusur in the Soap Opera Lupus

Kapanlagi.com - Fahmi Bo is better known as Gusur, a character in the soap opera Lupus. This character has left a lasting impression on viewers to this day. The 52-year-old actor, who now lives alone in a boarding house, shares his thoughts on his role in this hit soap opera from the 90s.

"The soap opera Lupus is the most memorable for me, it's the soap opera where, so to speak, I became known to people, thanks to Lupus. I started my journey into the film world in 1989," Fahmi Bo told KapanLagi.com on Thursday (20/06/2025).

"Well, that's when my name started to become known, I mean, it really boomed with Lupus, that's why I have such a strong impression of the soap opera Lupus. Thank you so much to the late Hilman, my original Lupus, thank you so much for inviting me to act, for trusting me to be Gusur, and that has been my dream for a long time," he continued.

1. The Character of Gusur That Sticks

In the soap opera Lupus, several characters are played by different actors. However, the character Gusur is always portrayed by Fahmi Bo. According to him, it just flows naturally.

"I don’t understand, in Lupus there are characters like Lupus, Boim, and Gusur, so, the Lupus character always has some problems, but, Alhamdulillah, Boim and Gusur are always used by Indosiar, so, every year we look for a new Lupus. Yes, people call me Gusur. That’s the one that has the most memories," he said.

2. Popularity & Financial Uplift

When asked about popularity, Fahmi Bo mentioned that playing Gusur is one of the peaks of his career as an actor. This popularity also brought him stable finances, although not abundant.

"Yes. Alhamdulillah, I’m somewhat known by people. Back then, it was tough when we were out on the street, it was uncomfortable. I mean, we would definitely be chased, especially in the regions, it was worse there. In Jakarta, people still shout but not as hysterical as in the regions, that’s why my experience with Lupus is really memorable," he said.

"Back then, we only got paid for 4 episodes each month. A month only had 1 episode airing each week. If we talk about finances, it was just enough to get by. I wasn’t anything special, I mean, I was just ordinary. Who is Fahmi Bo? You know, if film actors have class A, class B, class C, I don’t know what class I was in. It was just standard. So, it was just normal. Just enough to live on," he concluded.
