Fariz RM Continues to Create in Prison Despite Delayed Trial: Enjoys Reading Detective Conan & Prepares New Work

Behind the walls of Cipinang Prison, musician Fariz RM has not lost his spirit to remain productive. While awaiting the verdict in his drug case, he fills his days with activities closely related to literacy and creativity.

His lawyer, Griffinly Mewoh, reveals another side of Fariz's life in detention. To combat boredom or "idle time", Fariz has made books his faithful companions.

"Since the police station, Mas Fariz asked us, his legal advisors, to buy him a book. So that is his friend, the book is his friend," said Fily at the South Jakarta District Court, Thursday (04/9/2025).

Interestingly, Fariz has quite a unique taste in reading. He enjoys reading detective-themed books, one of which is a famous comic from Japan.

"Yes, the books about detectives. He ordered from us about, like, a simple example would be Detective Conan books, something like that. Yes, he enjoys reading," he revealed.

Besides reading, Fariz's artistic soul cannot be restrained. He uses his free time to write, which will likely become a new work after he is released later.

"Yes, that's it, writing, well, it's called being bored, right? How can a person inside not be bored... If he doesn't read, he writes. Suddenly inspiration comes, and he writes it down," explained Fily.

The support from family never stops. His twin children who are in the Netherlands continue to provide support over the phone.

His wife is said to visit often, as well as one of his sons. "His wife visits often. As for his children, the one, the son, visits frequently," he concluded.
