Found Guilty, Vanessa Angel Sentenced to 3 Months in Prison for Possession of Psychotropic Drugs

Kapanlagi.com - The West Jakarta District Court has read the verdict for the drug abuse defendant Vanessa Angel in the trial held on Thursday (5/11/2020). Based on the facts presented in the trial, the panel of judges finally found Vanessa Angel guilty of unlawfully possessing and storing the psychotropic drug xanax.

"Declares that the defendant Vanessa Adzania alias Vanessa Angel has been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of committing the crime of unauthorized possession and storage of psychotropic drugs," said the presiding judge.

1. Sentenced to 3 Months in Prison

Taking into consideration aggravating and mitigating factors, the Panel of Judges imposed a sentence of 3 months in prison and a fine of IDR 10 million, substitutable with 1 month of imprisonment.

As for the aggravating factors, Vanessa's actions have violated the law and she has previously served a sentence for involvement in a prostitution case.

"On the other hand, as a mitigating factor, during the trial, the defendant behaved politely and admitted her actions. The defendant is a woman who has a baby," said the Judge.

2. Lighter Sentence

The Judge's verdict against Vanessa is lighter than the demand of the Public Prosecutor who demanded a sentence of 6 months in prison and a fine of IDR 10 million, substitutable with 1 month of imprisonment.

As is known, the police arrested Vanessa Angel at her residence in Permata Mediterania, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on March 16, 2020.

At that time, the police successfully seized 20 xanax pills from Vanessa's residence, 15 pills in the vanity table drawer in Vanessa's room and another 5 pills in Vanessa's bag inside the car.
