Kapanlagi.com - Behind every laughter she created, Mpok Alpa held a multitude of dreams and hopes for her family. However, fate had other plans. Some of her noble aspirations had to be buried along with her departure forever.
Her husband, Adji Darmaji, could not hold back his tears while reminiscing about one of his wife's greatest wishes that never came true. Mpok Alpa longed to take her entire family to perform Umrah in the Holy Land.
"I wanted to take Petong for Umrah, I promised the whole family. 'Let's take the kids for Umrah'," Adji said while crying when met at his home in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, Saturday (16/8/2025).
That promise, that hope, now remains a memory. The sudden departure of Mpok Alpa left that beautiful plan unfulfilled. However, Adju is determined to realize his wife's dream someday with their children.
"Umrah has not been realized, and now it’s gone. Hopefully, we can take the children along," he said.
Besides Umrah, Mpok Alpa also had a simple yet calculated worldly aspiration for the future. She dreamed of owning a rental property as an investment and a source of passive income in old age.
"Yes, if there is fortune, I want to have a rental property; if not, then it’s just an aspiration. Aspirations can become prayers," said Adji.
Mpok Alpa was someone who believed that every dream is a prayer. Her husband admitted that he often taught not to be afraid to dream of good things, because it could be that angels would record it as a sincere intention.
"Dreaming will become a prayer; I teach that if we dream, that dream will become a prayer. Maybe an angel will pass by and record our good intentions. In the end, it’s about setting that intention, just dream for now," he reminisced.
The dream about the rental house is something they often discuss together. The two of them frequently fantasize about having more fortune to buy a piece of land and build on it. However, their main priority remains the education of their children.
"Speaking of which, if we have fortune, we could buy land like 30 meters or however many meters and build on it. But for now, insya Allah, the important thing is that we focus on the children first so they can go to school, study hard, not like us. The kids can just enjoy it," Adji explained.
Even for trivial matters like cars, Mpok Alpa has a unique way of praying. She often recites salawat in the car while passing through the highway, hoping that one day she can own her dream luxury car.
"I want to have a luxury car, so she recites salawat on the highway, just recite salawat first," Adji said.
