Ikang Fawzi Reveals He Is Not Used to Living Without Marissa Haque, His Children Become His Strength

Although he has tried to reorganize his life, Ikang admits that he is still in the process of getting used to living days without the presence of his beloved wife. When met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, Ikang shared about the sense of loss he still feels every day. "Not 100 percent yet, but getting there," said Ikang when asked if he has started to get used to everything without Marissa's presence.

The hardest moment for him is the morning, when he starts his activities. "Yes, every time I wake up in the morning, I always see her, kiss her there. I leave, and of course, with her prayers, she also takes care of my breakfast in the morning," he reminisced softly. For Ikang, his children are a source of strength during this difficult time. However, the 63-year-old man feels that the difference in experience makes him feel the loss more than the children.

"The children themselves, Alhamdulillah, are stronger. Because I have spent 38 years with my beloved wife. The children, of course, love their mother very much. But I have lived longer with my wife than with my parents. You can imagine," he revealed. Ikang also shared how Marissa seemed to have given many messages and signs before her departure. These messages have now become the family's guiding principles.

4. The Strength of Children

During this mourning period, Ikang expressed that his children have become his greatest supporters. Although many friends were present, Ikang feels that his children understand the weight of the loss more. "The ones who really support me are my children. The others are wonderful, but no matter what, they don’t know how heavy and how great our dependence was on the deceased," he explained. Ikang feels grateful to have caring children, especially his daughter who now takes on Marissa's role in caring for him.

"Fortunately, I have a daughter here, so she is more care for her father. Like just now, wanting to leave for here, even though it was early at 5 AM, they got up too. They tried to prepare the things that their mother used to do," Ikang said. The routine of praying together also plays an important part in the process of accepting Marissa's departure. Ikang and his children often perform congregational prayers and pray for Marissa. "Every time we optimize our prayers together. It is during those moments that we pray for the children's mother," he said.

Ikang believes that what happens is part of God's best plan. This belief helps him face the trials of life. "What is best for us is not necessarily what is best for God. So what is best for God is automatically what is best for us. This is what happened to me," Ikang concluded with full confidence.
