Initially Intended as a Film Remake, Manoj Punjabi Brings 'PERNIKAHAN DINI' to Serial Format - Starring Megan Domani

Kapanlagi.com - Disney+ Hotstar streaming service is ready to release a new series titled EARLY MARRIAGE. This teenage romance presentation is an adaptation of the same-titled film released in 1987.

This ten-episode series version has certainly been modernized. It not only discusses the problems of today's teenagers but also the relationship between parents and children.

"EARLY MARRIAGE is indeed a series about teenagers, addressing their problems. But it is also a family story because there is a family role here. It not only portrays the lives of teenagers but also how their problems impact their parents," said Benni Setiawan, the director, in a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (21/9/2023).

Manoj Punjabi as the producer said that initially intended to remake the movie EARLY MARRIAGE released in 1987. But after talking to Disney+ Hotstar, the plan changed to a series.

"So we have had this IP (Intellectual Property) for a long time. Since 2018, we have been considering making it into a feature film. But then Disney+ Hotstar was interested in making it a series," said Manoj on the same occasion.

2. Unmarried Pregnant Character

The actress playing the character Dini in the series EARLY MARRIAGE is Megan Domani. The younger sister of Bryan Domani revealed that this is the first time she has played the role of an unmarried pregnant girl.

"This is a different role from what I have played before. And the story is iconic, so to meet or exceed that standard makes the role challenging," explained Megan.
