Irwansyah Admits He Was More Panicked When Zaskia Sungkar Gave Birth to Their Second Child

Even though he had accompanied Zaskia Sungkar during the birth of their first child, Irwansyah admits he still couldn't hide his nervousness. During the birth of Urwah Muhammad Syahki, Irwansyah felt that his level of panic was higher compared to the birth of Ukkasya a few years ago.

The factor of the delivery schedule advancing from the initial plan was one of the triggers of tension for Irwansyah. He did not expect the process to go so quickly outside of the estimated due date (HPL).

"Honestly, even though this is the second child, the panic is incredible, even more panicked than when Ukkasya was born. Maybe because the process was faster than the original schedule," said Irwansyah at RS Bunda Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday (23/2/2026).

During the process at the hospital, Irwansyah was also asked to actively participate in calming the baby. He was asked to do skin-to-skin contact which has a myriad of benefits.

"I was also surprised when Dr. Tiwi said, 'Come on, dad, take off your shirt to hug the baby.' It turns out that it really has a significant effect on the baby's calmness," said Irwansyah.

Zaskia Sungkar confirmed that her husband's presence and involvement greatly helped the delivery process this time. The support from the medical team also made her feel more comfortable and less stressed while at the hospital.

"Yesterday I was a bit worried because the birth happened earlier, but Dr. Tiwi and the nursing team at Bunda really helped a lot with skin-to-skin contact, even Irwan helped so that the baby would feel warm," said Zaskia Sungkar.

Medically, this early birth is still considered safe because the baby's organs are mature. Dr. Merry Amelia explained that contractions had started since Friday night.

"Kia started feeling intense contractions on Friday night. After checking, it turned out there was already dilation and the baby's condition was ready, even though it was about a week early at 36 weeks and 4 days," concluded Dr. Merry Amelia.
