Renowned designer and presenter Ivan Gunawan brings news about his latest social project in the field of religion. The man affectionately known as Igun revealed a grand plan to build dozens of mosques scattered across various regions in Indonesia in the near future.
This construction project is serious as it aims to reach all corners of the country. Currently, Igun and his team are conducting in-depth research to determine the most suitable locations for establishing these places of worship.
"I will be launching soon; we are currently researching throughout Indonesia because the plan is to build 99 mosques from Sabang to Merauke. So later, I will invite my media friends when the preparations are ready," said Ivan Gunawan when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026).
Even though he has set a fantastic target number, Igun admits that the mass physical construction has not yet started. He is still focused on mapping the coordinate points so that the assistance provided is targeted and cost-efficient.
"Some points are still not determined because we are currently looking for where the points will be; there will be 99 points. So later we will launch it, and friends are invited to find out where the points are and how much the costs will be," he said.
Igun hopes that the entire plan to build these 99 mosques can be announced simultaneously to the public once all preparations are complete. He asks for prayers so that this good intention can proceed smoothly without significant obstacles. "God willing, it will be like that. Just pray for it," he said.
In carrying out this great mission, Igun does not work alone. He chooses to collaborate with institutions that have experience in managing community funds to ensure transparency and moral responsibility for the trust given by the donors.
"Oh I am collaborating with the Cinta Quran Foundation, along with Ustadz Fatih because first I don't want to handle money, and secondly I want to collaborate with people who already have experience in their field because for me this is a form of my relationship with Allah, especially using other people's money which is a trust, so we really have to be responsible," concluded Ivan Gunawan.
