Ivanka Slank Remembers Last Video Call with Her Late Mother

The atmosphere of mourning enveloped the family of bassist Slank, Ivanka Slank, after the passing of her beloved mother, Nikma Arifin. At the funeral, Ivanka delivered a speech that included expressions of gratitude and memories about her mother in front of family, relatives, and mourners.

"Thank you to my friends, my siblings who have taken the time to attend my mother’s funeral," said Ivanka.

On this occasion, Ivanka also recounted the chronology of the sad news she received that morning, her mother’s health history over the past few years, and the moment of their last conversation via video call.

Ivanka revealed that she received information about her mother's passing in the morning. She mentioned that the doctor estimated her mother passed away in the early hours.

"This morning around 9 or 10 AM I was informed that my mother had passed away. After being checked by the doctor, the doctor said she was estimated to have passed away around 5 AM," she said.

Additionally, Ivanka shared that her mother had been fighting illness for quite some time, approximately three to four years.

"She had been sick for about 3-4 years. Just yesterday she returned home from the hospital after being treated for about a week. At 4 PM she was able to return home from the hospital," she recalled.

As she was about to leave, Ivanka still managed to speak with her mother via video call. In her remarks, she mentioned seeing her mother's condition, which looked very tired.

"I video called her, and I could see that her face looked very tired. Then I said, 'It's okay Ma, just rest. Rest, rest.' It turns out she really wanted to have a long rest," said Ivanka.

In front of the mourners, Ivanka also conveyed an invitation to take lessons from her mother’s departure, by making the most of life to increase charitable deeds.

"I hope this serves as advice for all of us, while we are still alive in this world, here is where we become a field to seek as many good deeds as possible for the long journey in the eternal life that will never end," she expressed.

For Ivanka, the role of Nikma Arifin is very meaningful in shaping her life journey. She referred to her mother as the first school that taught her many things.

"She, my mom, is my school that taught me about love, taught me about sacrifice, and many other things," she said.

Closing her remarks, Ivanka expressed her gratitude to family, friends, and all those who have provided support during this time of sorrow.

"I want to thank everyone, relatives, family, and my wonderful friends. Without you, I couldn't be this strong. Thank you very much. Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings," he concluded.
