Jerinx SID Refuses to Pay Subsidy Fines as a Political Symbol, Supporters Instead Help Because of Longing

"Jerinx is completely free from his ten-month imprisonment. He did not take his COVID assimilation rights. If he did, it could have been faster than today," said I Wayan Gendo Suardana when contacted by the media via telephone.

I Wayan Gendo Suardana revealed that Jerinx was supposed to be released on July 8th because he refused to pay the subsidiary fine. However, part of it was paid by sympathizers who wanted the freedom of Nora Alexandra's husband.

"The Rp 10 million subsidiary fine that was paid is not because Jerinx wanted it, but because sympathizers who missed Jerinx wanted him to be released faster. So, part of the fine was paid by sympathizers from public donations, and the rest was supplemented or fulfilled by Jerinx's family," he said.

Furthermore, I Wayan Gendo Suardana said the reason why Jerinx refused to pay the fine. It is a political stance that imprisonment does not affect his attitude.

"Jerinx from the beginning wanted to undergo the punishment purely, he even didn't want to pay the fine actually. It is a symbol of political attitude. That, even though he doesn't feel guilty and doesn't deserve to be punished as stated by the court's verdict, he still undergoes it. And that is a symbol that any prison sentence does not affect his attitude," said his legal counsel.
