Judge Rejects Nikita Mirzani's Exception Related to Alleged Extortion Case

The panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court rejected the objection or exception submitted by Nikita Mirzani in the alleged extortion and money laundering case against beauty doctor, Reza Gladys. With the rejection of the exception, the trial will proceed to the main examination stage.

Chief Judge Kairul Saleh stated that the charges prepared by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) have met formal and material requirements. Therefore, the court decided to continue the legal process.

"Considering all those considerations, the objections of the defendant's legal counsel are deemed unfounded and do not enter into the core material of the case," said the Chief Judge while reading the interim decision at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (17/7/2025).

In response to the decision, Nikita Mirzani claimed to be relaxed and not surprised. She stated that she is ready to face the next stage, which is the evidence presentation with the appearance of witnesses.

"Today's interim decision is, Alhamdulillah, good, because usually interim decisions are always rejected, but it's okay. Next week we will enter the core material where witnesses from the prosecutor and witnesses from Niki will come," she said.

Nikita's legal counsel, Fahmi Bachmid, explained that the panel of judges believes that 10 out of the 11 points of exception they submitted have entered into the core material of the case. This means that those arguments must be proven through further trial proceedings. "This means they must be proven in the evidentiary trial process," said Fahmi.

The next trial is scheduled to be held on Thursday, July 24, with the agenda of hearing witness statements from the public prosecutor (JPU). In this case, Nikita Mirzani and her assistant, Ismail Marzuki, are accused of extorting Reza Gladys.

The JPU stated that Nikita demanded 4 billion IDR to avoid spreading negative reviews about Reza's beauty products. The money was allegedly used by Nikita to pay for her house installments.

For her actions, Nikita is charged with multiple offenses, including violations of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) related to threats and extortion, as well as the Law on the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering Crimes (TPPU).
