Keenan Nasution Clarifies Misleading Accusations Regarding the Lawsuit Against Vidi Aldiano

Through their attorney, Minola Sebayang, they clarified that the lawsuit is not a new case that was deliberately continued after Vidi passed away. On the contrary, this legal process has been ongoing for nearly a year.

"We want to clarify the news that is currently circulating, which seems to suggest that our client's legal action against Vidi only began after he passed away," said Minola Sebayang when met in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta on Friday (20/03/2026).

As a gesture of empathy, the Keenan Nasution party has decided to withdraw the cassation lawsuit. This decision was made as a final tribute to the late Vidi Aldiano.

"So there should no longer be thoughts that there is no empathy; there is empathy. Today we declare that our client is withdrawing the ongoing cassation process," Minola stated.

This clarification is hoped to end the polemic and public misunderstandings, as well as provide peace for all parties involved.

1. The Death of Vidi Aldiano Does Not Automatically Stop Legal Proceedings

Minola explained that under civil law, the death of a defendant does not automatically halt ongoing legal proceedings, unlike in criminal cases.

"And the case is not just starting now; it has been ongoing for quite some time. The legal process has been running for almost a year and is now at the cassation level. So this is what we need to clarify," he added.

2. Not Based on Personal Conflict

Furthermore, Minola emphasized that this lawsuit is purely a fight for copyright, not based on personal conflict. He also revealed that his client, Keenan Nasution, has personally expressed condolences to Vidi's mother.

"And once again, we emphasize that this is not a personal matter. This is about how our client wants to fight for his creative work in accordance with the Copyright Law, which includes moral rights and also economic rights," he asserted.
