Laura Basuki Shooting in Sumba, Moved by the Struggle of Children Forced to Work

The filming process of the movie YOHANNA in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, left a very deep impression on its main actress, Laura Basuki. Not only was she captivated by its natural beauty, but she also felt moved after witnessing the reality of children's lives there.

On one occasion, the wife of Leo Sanjaya shared how the experience opened her heart. She witnessed firsthand how some children in Sumba have to struggle hard and are forced to work at a very young age, even to the point of being unable to go to school.

He sees an irony behind the enchanting natural scenery of Sumba. The struggle of children who have to work as horse jockeys and other jobs becomes a social portrait that touches his heart.

"How the children there are forced to work and can't go to school, and many of them end up getting involved as horse jockeys and so on. So I saw something I had never seen before," he continued.

This experience made him hope that the economic conditions in Sumba could continue to improve, so that the children there could enjoy their childhood more decently.

Director Robby Ertanto added that one of the goals of this film is indeed to show that reality to the Indonesian audience. "We want all of you, especially the Indonesian audience, to take a closer look at the realities that exist in Indonesia, especially Sumba," Robby explained.
