Lawyer Deolipa Yumara Talks About the Detention of Nikita Mirzani

Nikita Mirzani attended the summons from the investigators of the Metro Jaya Police on Tuesday morning (3/4/2025), after being scheduled to meet with the investigators the day before. Nikita Mirzani underwent questioning as a suspect in the extortion case against Dr. Reza Gladys.

The day before the questioning, the extortion case involving Nikita Mirzani as a suspect was commented on by lawyer Deolipa Yumara. Deolipa chose to speak about the potential for the artist's detention and some other details.

Deolipa does not want to preempt the decision from the Metro Jaya Police, but she stated that the potential for Nikita Mirzani to be detained is quite large.

"We cannot preempt the decision from the Metro Police, but as for the law, that's how it is. The applicable rules are like that, so if the case of Nikita Mirzani regarding extortion has met the criteria as a suspect based on the investigation results, she will definitely be detained. She can be held for the next 20 days," said Deolipa.

After that, Deolipa mentioned the possibility of Nikita Mirzani filing for a suspension of detention. Once again, he returned everything to the investigators.

"If she wants to file for a suspension of detention, that's perfectly fine, her lawyer, her family, but the chances are very slim unless there are special circumstances, which depend on the investigators," he continued.

The case of Nikita Mirzani is widely discussed as entering the realm of minor offenses (tipiring). Deolipa shared his views on this and related to the suspension of detention.

"Well, tipiring is an offense such as traffic violations, so we need to differentiate between criminal law as a crime and criminal law as a minor offense, which can have monthly penalties. But crimes like theft, extortion, defamation, and gambling are considered serious crimes, and it is very rare for these to be suspended unless due to illness," he said.

Furthermore, Deolipa expressed his opinion on the use of money that has been converted into assets. "There is a TPPU article that can confiscate money or assets that have become assets. In the case of extortion, we do not yet have a law for asset confiscation, but we have a money laundering criminal law where the money flow of TPPU can be used to confiscate money," he concluded.
