Kapanlagi.com - Celebrity couple Luna Maya and Maxime Bouttier are once again appearing together in their latest film project titled GUNDIK. This film presents a mystical story with a strong historical atmosphere, providing a different experience for both during the filming process.
Luna and Maxime are known to play the main characters in this film, which is scheduled to be released on May 22, 2025. As the release date approaches, they express their enthusiasm and eagerness to see the audience's reactions.
"There’s nothing, it’s just fun. We’re about to release it soon. In one month, we’ll release on May 22, so we’re excited to watch it in theaters and share it with other viewers," said Maxime at XXI Plaza Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Wednesday (4/23/2025).

In addition to presenting an interesting storyline, this film also offers an interactive experience through the themed attraction House of Gundik. Maxime revealed that this concept is a particular draw for the players.
"This is also what makes it exciting, having the House of Gundik attraction. That’s how I feel right now," he said.
Although the story is set in the Southern Beach, the filming process took place at the Northern Beach. This was due to several technical considerations during production.
"No (Southern Beach). Due to one reason or another, we went to the Northern Beach. The shooting didn’t take place there, but the story is set in the Southern Beach. The sunlight is different, but we can adjust it in editing," revealed Anggy Umbara, the director of this film.
Long Shooting Duration
The long shooting duration posed a challenge for the entire crew and cast. Luna Maya even felt like she wanted to go home soon because of the exhausting schedule.
"Because the shooting lasted 20 hours, how could I not want to hurry home?" said Luna with a laugh.
Maxime also added that the long duration was caused by the many technical discussions on site. For Maxime, good communication among the players is the key to smooth production.
"The technical aspects are lengthy and we have to discuss them with the players. So, it’s quite long," he said.
In this film, Luna has to wear quite complicated prosthetic makeup to support the character she plays. The makeup creates the effect of snake scales on her cheeks down to her neck.
"There is prosthetic makeup, but only on one side, forming snake scales from the cheek to the neck. If you ask how many hours, two hours every day," Luna explained.
Regarding the mystical elements of the film, the cast admitted that they did not perform any rituals or seek special permits, even though the story is set in a sacred place. However, Maxime personally chose to ask for permission in his heart.
"There's nothing, right? I looked for it. As for me, I do ask for permission in my heart. Officially, there’s nothing," said Maxime.
Embodiment of a character that is vastly different from one's original personality poses a unique challenge for Luna. She even feels like she transforms into another person when portraying the character Gundik.
"It feels different, like I’m not Luna anymore. But I can say I quite enjoy this role," said Luna.
Director Anggy Umbara added that although it is not visually apparent, the character Gundik possesses an invisible strength. In fact, Luna even questioned the existence of that figure.
"Visually, there’s nothing. We and it turns out Luna questioned earlier whether that figure really exists or not, because we don’t know," revealed Anggy.
When asked how to delve into a character to appear different, Luna reiterated the importance of embodiment in the role she plays.
"It feels different, like I’m not Luna anymore. But I can say I really and quite enjoy portraying this because it’s very different from Luna," she said.
