Kapanlagi.com - The legendary band from Yogyakarta, Sheila on 7, officially surprised their fans with a sweet gift on their 30th anniversary. The band, led by Duta, Eross, and Adam, launched their latest single titled 'Sederhana'.
This launch feels very emotional as it coincides with the moment of the band's establishment in 1996. The song 'Sederhana' is a continuation of their music project after releasing 'Memori Baik', where both songs had actually completed their production process since 2024.

The vocalist of Sheila on 7, Duta, explained that the production of this latest single has a rather unique and different storyline than usual. He emphasized that although the basic idea still comes from the guitarist, Eross Candra, the maturation process is done together with the other members intensively.
"The sequence of the last singles of Sheila on 7 after Memori Baik indeed has a process that is somewhat out of the ordinary. Mas Eross is still the true originator, actually from the father next to me," Duta said when met in the Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta on Wednesday (06/05/2026).

The creative process of this song involved lengthy discussions about the musical composition and the meaning of the lyrics to be conveyed. Eross Candra, as the songwriter, opened up space for Duta and Adam to provide input so that the song truly represents the soul of Sheila on 7 today.
"It's just that his approach is different from Memori Baik and Sederhana. So he really asked me and Adam how the composition is, how about the lyrics and everything," said Duta.
The lyrics of the song 'Sederhana' carry a deep message about the reflection of life, particularly about how humans distinguish between wants and needs. Eross Candra revealed that the inspiration for this song actually came during the difficult times of the pandemic a few years ago, when many people began to learn to let go of non-essential things.
"The vibe came during the pandemic. Many musician friends had to let go of instruments that they actually didn't really need to sell. I was lucky to have a hobby of playing guitar and also working in music," said Eross Candra.

Through this song, Sheila on 7 wants to convey that true happiness does not always come from the pursuit of validation or excessive luxury. For them, a grounded lifestyle is the main key to survive and remain relevant until the age of 30 in their work.
"It turns out that the way of life we have chosen all this time, not following others, is what saves us. We can not only save ourselves but also do good for others," concluded Duta.
It’s not easy to live in the city
Living a life full of stories
Choices sometimes make us blind
Falling into a pit
Not knowing what is needed
Or just merely desired
And now I will fight
To get out of the race
I’m lucky to meet you
The woman who saved me
Offering freedom of thought
Staying away from excess
Simple and just enough
That’s how we live
But happiness surrounds
There are thousands of hectares of gardens
One flower that I can give
Also from millions of stars
Happiness that I can show
Simple...
Happy...
Ooo...
Tutu tu...
Tutu tu...
Because it’s not our style
To merely chase validation
You know the control of happiness
Lies within us
Simple and just enough
That’s how we live
But happiness surrounds
There are thousands of hectares of gardens
One flower that I can give
Also from millions of stars
Happiness that I can show
Simple...
Happy...
Ooo...
Tutu tu...
Tutu tu...
There are thousands of hectares of gardens
One flower that I can give
Also from millions of stars
Happiness that I can show
Simple...
Happy...
Ooo...
Tutu tu...
Tutu tu...
Simple...
Happy...
Ooo...
Tutu tu...
Tutu tu...
