Melly Lee's Story: Once Borrowed Aulia DA's Makeup Tools While in China, Becoming More Skilled at Makeup

Melly Lee is known as one of the artists who is very independent when it comes to her appearance. In every performance on stage, she almost always brings her own makeup kit. However, who would have thought that behind her independence, Melly once experienced an unexpected incident while working abroad, specifically in China.

Melly recounted that at that time she forgot to bring a complete stage makeup kit and only brought her daily makeup tools. As a result, she had to borrow her colleague Aulia DA's equipment. Even though she used someone else's tools, Melly still applied her own distinctive makeup style.

"I always carry my makeup tools, even off air I do my own makeup now. I don't know, maybe it's because I feel like I look good, but what others say is up to them, even if they say I look bad. Maybe soon I will become a makeup artist, just wait a moment," said Melly Lee while laughing when met at the Transera Waterpark parking lot, Bekasi, Friday (13/3/2026).

Now, because I have been doing my own makeup so often, Melly feels that her skills have improved. Jokingly, she mentioned that she might switch professions to become a makeup artist if she stops singing in the future.

"It's not really about the makeup tools, more about the little things like soft lenses for example or powder, just one of those. But if it's the full makeup, I never forget to do my own makeup; it's impossible for all my makeup tools to be left behind suddenly," she said.

Melly reminisced about the moment when she had to share equipment with Aulia. Although they used different products, she remained confident in the results of her own handiwork.

"Once, when I went to China, I didn't bring makeup; I only brought everyday makeup, so I used Kak Aulia's makeup. Yes, it was different, but because I used different makeup tools, I still did my makeup in my own way," recalled Melly Lee.

"So actually, this is still quite a long journey for my makeup because it started at 8, and now it's only half past 7, so we still have a long time, just relax," she concluded.

Melly Lee was present to enliven the Pesta Raya Ramadan Indosiar in Bekasi. This event featured performances from a lineup of top stars such as Dewi Perssik and Setia Band, as well as the champions of D'Academy.
