More Religious, Vadel Badjideh Now Regularly Recites Quran and Prays 5 Times a Day in Prison

Life behind bars seems to bring positive changes to the religious side of Vadel Badjideh. While incarcerated at Cipinang Prison, Vadel is reported to have become much more devout.

Martin, Vadel's older brother, recounts that his younger brother spends a lot of time getting closer to God.

In addition to performing the five daily prayers, Vadel has also started diligently learning to read the Quran with his cellmates who are also deepening their religious knowledge.

"Still playing badminton, still practicing dance if there's free time, and also his worship, Alhamdulillah, is getting smoother," said Martin when met at Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Thursday (2/5/2026).

In line with Martin, Bintang explained that Vadel is now one of the students in the detention center. The environment inside the prison supports Vadel to continue studying religion and not neglect his worship even a little amidst the difficult situation he faces.

"As for that, we don't know the details yet, but what we do know is that we have been sharing (praying) the five daily prayers, and that has not changed, Alhamdulillah. There are students, yes, so students, learning together," said Bintang.

The family feels that Vadel is now much wiser in his behavior. This change in mindset is believed to be the result of the contemplation and worship he performs every day.

Martin sees a maturity that emerges from the way his younger brother speaks and behaves during the visit. "It's a change of life (hijrah)," said Martin.
