Nikita Mirzani Insists on Filing Cassation After Being Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison, Still Demands Justice

Nikita Mirzani Mawardi, also known as Nyai, has taken a firm legal step again. After the DKI Jakarta High Court rejected her appeal and instead increased her sentence to 6 years in prison, Nikita finally decided to file a cassation to the Supreme Court.

This heavy decision was made for a reason. The mother of three feels that the verdict handed down to her greatly undermines her sense of justice. She feels criminalized over a case that originated from her feud with beauty doctor Reza Gladys.

Galih Rakasiwi as the legal counsel, explained that this cassation initiative came directly from Nikita. Her client insists on continuing to fight for the restoration of her good name and the freedom that has been taken away.

"Nikita will utilize this legal effort until the very last point of her legal endeavors. Because it is felt that for this case, justice has not yet been achieved. It has not aligned with the existing facts," she said when met at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday (15/12/2025).

"Yes, in fact, we were requested by Nikita herself to file the cassation. The essence is that in her view now, it is fundamentally unfair. It is unfair for Nikita, and it is also unfair for Ismail Marzuki," she added.

My legal team is now moving quickly to prepare the cassation memorandum. They have 14 days to formulate strong legal arguments to overturn the previous court ruling, which is deemed incorrect in applying the law.

"Of course, it will almost be the same as the previous appeal, we will include our objections. But for now, I will not touch on the contents of the cassation memorandum, and it's not appropriate for me to disclose that yet," Galih explained.

Galih added that the process of preparing the cassation memorandum will be done very carefully. In-depth analysis is needed to prove that the previous judge's ruling did not align with the facts of the trial.

"Because we will prepare it based on analysis and other considerations, including considerations that are deemed to have not yet achieved a sense of justice, which do not correspond to reality," he said.

Even though the path taken is steep, Nikita's side remains optimistic. They hope that the judges at the cassation level can view this case more objectively and deliver the fairest ruling.
