Not for Reporting, This is the Reason Sarwendah Visited the Women's Commission

The arrival of Sarwendah at the Women's Commission office sparked various speculations. Many assumed the former wife of Ruben Onsu came to file an official report regarding the issues she is facing.

However, this assumption was denied by the Women's Commission. Women's Commission Commissioner, Irwan Setiawan, explained that Sarwendah's visit was not to report, but to consult about the situation she is currently experiencing.

"The main point of the letter is that she wants to consult about what our client is experiencing in that letter. And of course, the Women's Commission, according to its mandate, welcomes anyone who wants to consult, have an audience, or make a complaint, feel free to do so," said Irwan Setiawan when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/6/2026).

According to Irwan, before coming to the office of the National Commission on Violence Against Women, Sarwendah, through her legal representative, first sent a request letter for an audience. In the letter, it was stated that the agenda of the meeting was an initial consultation regarding the issues being faced.

"In the request letter for the audience, she expressed through her lawyer the desire to consult with the team from the National Commission on Violence Against Women regarding what she is experiencing," said Irwan.

He emphasized that the National Commission on Violence Against Women is open to anyone who wants to consult, hold an audience, or file a complaint. The institution does not limit the background of those who come seeking assistance or input.

"We are very open to anyone coming or filing a complaint or having an audience. Whoever it is, from any group, we are very open," he said.

Therefore, Irwan assured that Sarwendah's arrival is still at the consultation stage and has not yet entered the realm of a formal complaint. So far, there has been no further administrative process indicating that the case has been registered as a report with the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan).

"That's correct, because yesterday it was only in the letter that it was just a consultation, coming to the National Commission on Violence Against Women to consult on our client's situation, that's what the letter said," concluded Irwan Setiawan.
