Ratu Meta Regains Confidence to Act in Films, Remembers Gery Iskak in 'LASTRI: ARWAH KEMBANG DESA'

After reducing her acting activities following childbirth, the dangdut singer who is also active in the entertainment world has now regained her confidence to accept film roles.

In the horror film, she plays the character Indah, a village mother who knows various stories and gossip about Lastri.

Although she is now more open to accepting acting offers, Ratu admits she went through a phase of low self-confidence after becoming a mother. This condition made her more selective in taking on work in the entertainment industry.

"It was just that back then I felt like I was still new because I had just given birth, so I wasn’t confident. But now I’m just confident. I want to take it now, and if there are offers later on, that’s fine," said Ratu Meta when met in South Jakarta on Tuesday (23/6).

1. Never Limited Herself

Ratu Meta admitted that she has never limited herself to just one field of work. In addition to singing, she also enjoys activities in the sitcom, soap opera, and film worlds as long as those jobs make her comfortable.

According to Ratu, every job that comes her way is a blessing and an opportunity to expand her relationships in the entertainment industry. Therefore, she always tries to enjoy every offer she receives.

2. Knew Gary Iskak for a Long Time

Ratu's return to the big screen also brings back special memories. In LASTRI: ARWAH KEMBANG DESA, she was reunited with Gery Iskak, who is one of the actors in the film.

Ratu admitted that she has known Gary for a long time. They even worked together on the same film project early in her acting career. Because of that, she has many memories with the actor who passed away in 2025.

In Ratu's eyes, Gary was someone who always brought positive energy to the shooting location. Although he had health issues, the late actor never showed sadness in front of his colleagues.

"Yes, he was a cheerful person, and if he had problems with family or anyone, he never wanted to talk much about it. He was easy-going and just laid-back," Ratu reminisced.

Not only known for being friendly, Gary was also described as someone who often entertained the other actors with his antics. For Ratu, Gery's presence always made the shooting atmosphere feel warmer.

The film LASTRI: ARWAH KEMBANG DESA tells the tragic life of a woman named Lastri, who then becomes an urban legend in society. The film stars Hana Saraswati, Yama Carlos, Rizal Djibran, Audy Bella, Nando Hilmy, Debby Sahertian, Ingrid Wijanarto, Ratu Meta, and Gery Iskak, and is scheduled to be released in theaters starting July 16, 2026.
