Nunung Admiring Mpok Alpa's Struggle, Fighting Breast Cancer While Caring for Her Twin Children

Behind her characteristic laughter, Mpok Alpa hides an incredibly heavy struggle. She is not only fighting breast cancer but is also doing so while pregnant with twins, a decision that makes her friend, Nunung, very impressed.

Nunung recalls Mpok Alpa's unwavering spirit. Even though she knew the pain from chemotherapy very well, the late Mpok Alpa remained cheerful and even continued to work, a piece of advice that Nunung always gave her.

"And the late one could always be cheerful, basically you just work as long as you are still able to work, I always say that. Remember that miracles exist in this world, she got stronger, she got more enthusiastic," said Nunung when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (19/8/2025).

However, what moved Nunung the most was Mpok Alpa's decision to maintain her pregnancy amid the onslaught of illness. She couldn't imagine how difficult the late one's position was, having to think about her twin fetus while cancer continued to spread in her body.

"So how could she maintain her fetus, maintaining twin children, while she had to think about her cancer. Cancer can't stay still, it will keep spreading," she revealed.

After giving birth, Mpok Alpa had planned to undergo surgery, an important step in breast cancer treatment. However, fate had other plans when a small obstacle caused the procedure to be postponed.

"Finally, after she gave birth, I heard she wanted to have surgery again. But at the time she was supposed to have surgery with the doctor in Malaysia, if I'm not mistaken, she coughed. So eventually, the surgery didn’t happen," she explained.

The postponement became a critical point, as the cancer then spread to other vital organs, making treatment more difficult. Nonetheless, Nunung believes that Mpok Alpa was a great fighter until the end of her life.

"If it spreads to the lungs, it is indeed difficult to treat. If it’s in other places or just the brain, there’s still a chance of survival. But if it’s in the lungs, it’s really hard. The deceased was indeed on her way, but I believe the deceased was a great and cheerful person," she concluded.
