Once Never Did Eid Prayers and Full Fasting, Ivan Gunawan Now Opens His Heart: Builds a Mosque and Goes on Hajj

In an era where the hustle and bustle of the entertainment world often takes center stage, many public figures find themselves reconnecting with their spiritual calling. Ivan Gunawan, who has long been known as a designer and presenter, is slowly showing a change in attitude towards his religious practices.

The journey of tolerance and closeness that he is beginning to weave with Islam is evident through a series of concrete steps that are rarely highlighted by the public. This is a little bit of the religious journey of Ivan Gunawan, who is commonly called Igun!

In Ramadan 2025, Igun acknowledges an important flashback and makes a confession. He admits that this year is the first time he could fast the entire month of Ramadan.

In fact, previously he regularly participated in various sahur programs on television, including comedy shows with fees that could be considered fantastic, but he had never experienced the solemnity of enduring thirst and hunger from dawn until dusk completely.

Similarly, the Idul Fitri tradition is something he has never celebrated with joy as a moment of togetherness among Muslims. Ivan has never even performed the Idul Fitri prayer in congregation in his homeland. His choice to vacation abroad during Eid has become a habit he chose to avoid the crowded gatherings and exhausting social visits, rather than experiencing the joy of the holiday in his homeland.

However, as time went by, Ivan's heart began to be touched to do something more tangible by building religious facilities for the community. In the Depok area, he took the initiative to establish a three-story Al-Qur'an tahfidz house equipped with classrooms for Arabic, English, and computer studies to support the learning of the students at no cost, or for free.

Not only that, he also prepared a plot of land measuring 300 square meters to establish a prayer room or small mosque, to meet the worship needs of the local residents who have been lacking religious facilities.

Now, after going through the process of spiritual and social preparation, Ivan Gunawan is determined to perform the pilgrimage (Hajj) at the end of May 2025. He will depart for Hajj on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, marking another important milestone in his spiritual journey.

Previously, he also held a walimatussafar event as an expression of gratitude and a request for blessings from family and close friends before departing for the Holy Land.

May Ivan Gunawan's pilgrimage journey to the Holy Land go smoothly and return as a mabrur pilgrim. Don't forget to check out other news on KapanLagi.com, if not now, when else?
