Piche Kota No Longer Has Suspect Status after Pretrial, Judge Declares Invalid

The case of Piche Kota has received legal clarity. The panel of judges granted the pretrial lawsuit filed by Piche Kota's legal team regarding his designation as a suspect in the alleged rape case of a high school student with the initials ACT in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This ruling invalidates Piche's status as a suspect legally.

Piche Kota's attorney, Cosmas Jo Oko, explained that the panel of judges accepted all the arguments presented by his side. According to him, there have been irregularities in the legal process conducted by the investigators from the beginning.

Cosmas stated that one of the judges' considerations was the existence of procedural defects in the investigation process. In addition, his side also presented additional witnesses and the minutes of the examination (BAP) that were deemed to strengthen the arguments for the pretrial request.

"In this pretrial, the Judge granted all our petition arguments because indeed there have been anomalies in this legal process from the beginning," said Cosmas Jo Oko during a virtual press conference on Thursday (16/07/2026).

"It was also reinforced by our side presenting witness Mrs. Bobat and also additional BAP which states that our client Piche Kota is not involved and he is not the perpetrator in the alleged criminal act charged against him," said Cosmas.

In its ruling, the judge stated that the determination of the suspect against Piche is invalid due to procedural defects. The decision also granted all objects of the pretrial motion submitted by the legal team.

"We need to emphasize that in the legal considerations in the ruling, it is clear that the judge considers that the determination of the suspect Piche Kota is invalid by law. Because everything has procedural defects," he stated.

"Then the judge also examined and stated that the determination of the suspect against Piche Kota is null and void and invalid," he said.

"Then regarding the detention, it was also stated to be invalid and null and void, and the postponement of the detention of the case against our client Piche Kota is also the same, yes, invalid and null and void," concluded Cosmas Jo Oko.
