Portrait of Instagram Celebrity Isa Zega Charged with Six Years in Prison for Defamation of Shandy Purnamasari

Instagram celebrity Isa Zega underwent his first trial at the Malang District Court on Tuesday (25/2/2025). He was charged with six years in prison for alleged defamation against the owner of the cosmetic company MS Glow, Shandy Purnamasari. The charges were read by Prosecutor Ari Kuswadi, who presented Isa Zega accompanied by his legal team.

The prosecutor stated that Isa Zega allegedly intentionally spread electronic information that harmed the complainant. The incident occurred on October 17, 2024, at the MS Glow office in Pakis District, Malang Regency.

"The relevant video content was uploaded through the Instagram account @zega_real and TikTok @mami_online, which has many followers. The video received more than 1,000 comments, meaning it has been viewed by more than 1,000 people," said Ari Kuswadi.

The prosecutor emphasized that Shandy Purnamasari knew that the account owner was Isa Zega. Previously, on October 11, 2024, the defendant had attempted to contact Shandy to meet, but the invitation was declined. "Based on that, the post is categorized as defamation that tarnishes the reputation of the witness Shandy Purnamasari," he continued.

Isa Zega was charged under Article 45 Paragraph (10) letter a in conjunction with Article 27B paragraph (2) letter a of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions.

In response to the charges, Isa Zega expressed his objection and submitted an exception. He argued that his post on social media was not directed at Shandy Purnamasari, but was merely a tale from his imagination. In the contested video, Isa referred to a character named "Shaun the Sheep" with negative comments. He claimed that the character was merely an imaginary figure and not a play on the name Shandy Purnamasari.

"Shaun the Sheep is not Shandy Purnamasari. I never mentioned her name," said Isa after the trial. He also denied the allegations of extortion, threats, and coercion that had previously emerged in this case. "That is not proven, which is why I submitted an exception," he concluded.

The defamation case with the defendant, celebrity Instagrammer and artist manager, Isa Zega, began from a report by Shandy Purnamasari, the owner of the beauty brand MS Glow and the wife of businessman Gilang Widya Permana (Juragan99).
