The presence of Nisya Ahmad at the inauguration of the West Java Provincial Parliament members on Monday (2/9) raised public questions. Many were curious as to why Nisya could be sworn in, even though she failed to win the legislative candidate election.

Quoted from Merdeka.com, Nisya was sworn in after Thoriqoh Nasrullah Fitriyah, the candidate who won the election from PAN, resigned. According to the KPU's statement, Thoriqoh resigned in mid-August and her position was filled by Nisya, who ranked second in the vote count.

In the recent legislative election, Nisya ran from the National Mandate Party. She contested in the II electoral district of West Java, which includes the regions of Bandung Regency and West Bandung Regency.

However, in the voting process, Nisya lost. She only received 50,422 votes, while her party mate, Thoriqoh, received 58,495 votes.

However, it turned out that Thoriqoh was not the one inaugurated as a member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives on Monday, (2/9) yesterday. Instead, it was Nisya, who had previously lost to Thoriqoh.

Regarding Nisya's inauguration, the KPU stated that Raffi Ahmad's sister was elected as a council member after Thoriqoh resigned. Based on the KPU West Java Decree Number 23 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to KPU West Java Decree Number 17 of 2024 regarding the Determination of Elected Candidates for the West Java Regional House of Representatives in the 2024 Election, Nisya replaced Thoriqoh's position. The decision was issued on August 17, 2024.

Nisya's political career can be described as meteoric. She joined the PAN party on August 23, 2023, and then immediately participated in the legislative elections in 2024. Now, she has been inaugurated as a member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 period.

The KPU stated that Nisya's inauguration process did not violate the law. "So if indeed the elected candidate passes away, resigns, there is a court ruling that has permanent legal force, and they do not meet the requirements, they can be replaced by a substitute candidate," said Adi Saputro, Head of the Technical Division of KPU West Java.

Nisya was automatically elected as a member of the DPRD after Thoriqoh resigned. Because of her position as the second highest vote holder, once the winner of number one resigned, Nisya automatically ascended to become a council member.

Regarding the reasons behind Thoriqoh's resignation, it is still unknown. Nisya herself has not spoken much about her new position as a member of the West Java DPRD, which will require her to move to Bandung for the next 5 years.
