Portrait of Prilly Latuconsina and Omara Esteghlal Responding to the Demo, Wearing Black Clothes as a Sign of Mourning

Indonesia is currently in mourning. This follows the death of an online motorcycle taxi driver who was run over by a Brimob vehicle. A number of celebrities have expressed their condolences, including celebrity couple Prilly Latuconsina and Omara Esteghlal.

After expressing their condolences, Prilly and Omara made a video to share their opinions on this issue. Don’t forget to check out other news about Prilly at Liputan6.com!

"A simple response to what is happening right now," wrote Prilly and Omara for the caption of this video. They wore black clothes in solidarity to show their grief.

Before expressing their opinions, Prilly and Omara expressed their condolences for the passing of Affan Kurniawan, the ride-hailing driver who was run over.

Prilly then explained the background of why the demonstration occurred. This demonstration happened because of news about the allowances of DPR members, which Prilly believes are unreasonable. Prilly also highlighted the responses from the representatives, which she thinks are unwise to say.

"Then they responded with the words 'just'. Just this much, just 12 million. This is not a lot. Then there are also those who say that those who protest are (sorry) stupid people," said Prilly.

Omara also responded to the allowance issue, which he said was reasonable due to the traffic encountered when going to the office. For Omara, it is ironic because it is stated by a member of the DPR who drives a luxury car. Meanwhile, the allowance is derived from taxes paid by the people.

Prilly cited her visit to a village in East Nusa Tenggara that was affected by a disaster, resulting in damaged roads, destroyed homes, and many children losing loved ones.

"But in the midst of that hardship, the teachers there remain enthusiastic about teaching. The children there go to school through damaged roads, which are actually dangerous for them. But they don't complain, and don't ask for allowances," said Prilly.

Omara compared the salaries of members of the parliament, which total more than one hundred million rupiah, to teachers who only receive three hundred thousand. Meanwhile, those teachers do not receive luxurious facilities and have worked for years like that. For Prilly, it is reasonable for the people to be angry about this injustice.

Omara remembers five years ago when he was still living in Minnesota and experienced 'police brutality' due to racism issues. For Omara, that incident was very bad, but it does not compare to what is happening in Indonesia right now, which he thinks is much more tragic.

Omara and Prilly hope that this incident can be a reflection and a motivator for all of us. "And hopefully the tax money we pay is not used to buy luxury watches," concluded Prilly. What do you think, KLovers? Don't forget to check out other news on KapanLagi.com, if not now, when else.
