The body of Najwa Shihab's husband, Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf, was buried at Jeruk Purut Cemetery, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (21/5/2025). Before that, the body was prayed over at the mosque near the mourning house, in the Jeruk Purut area, Cilandak Timur, South Jakarta.

According to Quraish Shihab, the heavy rain accompanying the funeral procession of his late son-in-law is a sign of God's mercy.
Quraish Shihab mentions one of God's words that the heavens will not weep for the disobedient.
"For me, this is a sign of God's mercy. God says in the Qur'an, the disobedient, the heavens do not weep for them. It means no rain falls," said Quraish Shihab.
According to Quraish, Najwa accepted her husband's departure with a demeanor full of patience. He mentioned that his daughter completely surrendered her life's fate to God's will.
"Surrender, acceptance, everything that is determined by God, that is the best. Indeed the heart is sad, the eyes are teary, but never utter anything except what is pleasing to God," said Quraish Shihab.
"Of course, everyone initially will not be ready to lose. But those who are aware will realize that it belongs to God," he said.
In the eyes of the mother-in-law, Ibrahim is seen as a good person and loved by many. "He is a good person. If he weren't a good person, so many wouldn't have come," she said.
