Quraish Shihab, the father of Najwa Shihab, also attended the funeral procession of his son-in-law. In the atmosphere of mourning, he expressed the condition of his daughter who was left by her husband.

According to Quraish, Najwa accepted her husband's departure with a demeanor full of patience. He mentioned that his daughter completely surrendered her fate to God's will.   "Surrendered, accepting, whatever is determined by God, that is the best. Indeed the heart is sad, the eyes are tearful, but she never spoke except what is pleasing to God," said Quraish Shihab at TPU Jeruk Purut, South Jakarta, Wednesday (21/5/2025).

Furthermore, Quraish also described Ibrahim as a good person who was loved by many. He considered the large number of mourners present as evidence of his son-in-law's goodness during his lifetime.   "He is a good person. If he weren't a good person, so many people wouldn't have come," he said.

Amidst the deep sense of loss, Quraish also recounted that Najwa had once talked about the unpreparedness to face separation. Nevertheless, he understood that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.   "Of course, everyone initially is not ready to lose. But those who are aware will realize that it belongs to God," he stated.

As a form of final respect, Quraish also expressed his condolences according to his religious teachings. He urged all those left behind to remember that life and death are God's provisions.

"The condolence message taught by religion is Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. We indeed belong to Allah, it is natural for Him to call us. And we all will return," he concluded.
