Singer Selvi Kitty shares a story about how her child, Abizard Kavin Suseno, is starting to learn to fast. Although he is not yet able to fast fully, she still teaches her child to understand the meaning of the worship.
"He has learned to fast but is not strong enough; coincidentally, the environment at school is not fasting, so he follows along," said Selvi Kitty when met in the Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta, Thursday (20/3/2025).
The singer of the song "Cintaku Sekuat Tiang Listrik" said that she once persuaded her child by giving a reward to encourage him to try fasting more enthusiastically."I once persuaded him with a reward like that. Well, now not yet, but he knows about fasting, so he fills his time with positive activities like a short pesantren, buying takjil, ngabuburit, and going to the mosque as well," she said.
According to Selvi, her child is indeed not yet accustomed to enduring hunger and thirst all day. However, she still wants to introduce the atmosphere of Ramadan in a fun way for her child.
"Well, now not yet, but he knows about fasting, so he fills his time with positive activities like a short pesantren, buying takjil, ngabuburit, and going to the mosque as well," said Selvi. She added that these activities could help her child better understand the essence of Ramadan.
In addition to the issue of fasting, Selvi also talked about how her child responds to the separation of her parents. At first, the child questioned why they do not live together."Now it’s not like that anymore, at first, he asked and I was confused about how to explain it," said Selvi.
Although she has not clearly explained the reasons for the separation, Selvi and her ex-husband chose to wait for the right time. She wants to ensure that her child can accept the situation without feeling burdened.
"But now as time goes by, he actually says he wants to go to dad, I haven’t talked about it yet but my child already understands why his parents don’t live together," said Selvi.
She added that her child is starting to understand that both parents are still there for him even though they do not live together. "Rangga and I haven't told the child about the divorce yet; there will be a time when the child is ready," she concluded.
