Kapanlagi.com - Actress Nadya Arina once portrayed a hijab-wearing character in a film. Because the role was so ingrained, when Nadya uploaded photos and videos without wearing a hijab on social media, it actually raised questions from netizens.
What Nadya doesn't like is that netizens instead criticize her for not covering her aurat. Even though they should understand that in her daily life she doesn't wear a hijab.
"My previous film received a lot of responses from people as if I was really like the character in the film (wearing a hijab). When I am myself, there are some people who criticize me like 'Why aren't you wearing a hijab?'. But I haven't started wearing a hijab," Nadya said when met at Epicentrum XXI, Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (26/6/2024).
However, now Nadya Arina is calm in facing those reactions. She often explains that her job as an actress requires her to portray a character that is different.
"The roles I take make people assume that it's the same in real life. It's a learning experience for me and for them that it's not like that in reality. It's just a character, a job. In real life, we have a different journey," Nadya firmly stated.
Once they found out that she doesn't wear a hijab in real life, netizens asked Nadya Arina to quickly cover up. Instead of feeling uncomfortable, she actually asked for prayers to strengthen her decision to wear a hijab.
"Doesn't it feel uncomfortable? The response is more like 'Just pray for it'. Because everyone's journey is different. We shouldn't make decisions without knowing the purpose, without feeling fully committed to our choices," Nadya Arina explained.
