Producer Girry Pratama Ready to Run for the 2024 Election, Bringing a Mission to Save the Indonesian Film Industry

Kapanlagi.com - In recent years, the political stage has been flooded with the presence of artists. Film producer Girry Pratama apparently intends to run for legislative office as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 term.

Not just for status, Girry apparently brings a positive mission. The former boyfriend of Irish Bella stated that he wants to promote the progress of the Indonesian film industry because he believes there are still many issues that need to be addressed in the Indonesian film industry.

"The motivation is simple, to advance the film industry in Indonesia," said Girry Pratama in his statement on Tuesday (30/3).

1. Things Girry Pratama Wants to Improve

Girry also sees the existence of monopoly efforts by big production houses that harm smaller production houses. Therefore, one important point that Girry wants to emphasize in the future is to create clear and fair regulations so that the film industry will be more vibrant.

"Let all production houses have equal rights in the face of OTT and cinemas," he added briefly.

2. Not Because of Money

In addition to working as a film producer, Girry himself is a successful entrepreneur. Therefore, he doesn't care about the size of his salary as a member of the DPR. His mission is only one, which is to improve the film industry through the DPR.

"If the intention is only to make money, there are better business opportunities. The salary of DPR members is around 60 million, my DoP salary is 300 million, which is already more than enough. The goal is not there, the intention is truly to help people and uplift the artists. We will fight for improvements in the film industry," said Girry.

It is known that Girry Pratama also ran as a legislative candidate in the 2019 legislative elections through the Perindo Party for the West Kalimantan electoral district. Although he received enough votes, it seems that Gerry was not endorsed by his party to become a legislative member.
