"Yesterday, thank God, I met his family. Mak Haji is the wife of Pak Haji Bolot, and his children are also at Fatmawati Hospital. So a few times, when the media friends were pulled out, we went in, like that. Eh, getting better, awareness is quite good, improving, and continuing communication. That's about it. Thank God it's getting better, hopefully," said Rico Ceper when met in the Gelora Bung Karno area on Monday (15/6/2026).
Initially, Rico only saw Haji Bolot's condition from behind the glass of the treatment room. At that time, the comedian was resting after receiving medical treatment. After getting permission from the family and medical staff, Rico was allowed to enter to directly encourage his friend.
"I went in. I was right next to Pak Haji Bolot. He was lying down, and he had finished eating. I called out, 'Pak Haji, come on, stay strong, get well,' that's what I said. 'We can go back to shooting again. Pak Haji, hey wake up, wake up, wake up,' I said that. Because I was following the nurse's previous way of waking him up," said Rico.
The most touching moment occurred when Haji Bolot began to respond. Although still in a weak condition, he was able to raise his hand and respond to Rico's invitation.
"He raised it weakly. 'Let's compete with our thumbs. If this is me, then it's Ceper,' I said. He raised his thumb weakly (demonstrating the thumb war). Oh, I wanted to cry. He was doing this with me... See, that means his motor skills are there, like that. And that is progress; he used to just lie still like he was unconscious, according to his family," explained Rico.
Rico hopes Haji Bolot's condition will continue to improve and that he can return to his usual activities.
"Yes, my prayer and surely the people of Indonesia, I hope Mr. Haji Bolot recovers quickly. Stay strong, Mr. Haji. Many miss you, your entertainment, Mr. Haji. I hope you recover soon, be healthy again, and can create again in the world of acting. Amen," he concluded.
