Samo Rafael Will Perform Many War Scenes in the Film 'EMMY', Willing to Tan

He feels that his skin color, which is too light, does not match the character of a warrior on the battlefield. Therefore, Samo chose to do tanning to get a darker skin tone.

"Honestly, this week is swimming, gym, swimming, gym. Because before I started shooting this, I was quite lazy. That factor is quite important because the shooting is exterior, we are definitely battling the weather, we are battling physically because it turns out that we see a lot from the location research that there are many inclines and the terrain that we have to physically be strong every day," explained Samo Rafael when met at the same location on Friday (27/03/2026).

According to him, this is done so that his appearance looks more natural when standing alongside other warriors in the middle of the forest.

Not to be outdone, Beby Tsabina also started to exercise regularly. Although she does not face the significant physical transformation demands like Samo, Beby still needs to maintain her strength. The director has already given an early warning that the scenes in this film will involve a lot of uphill and downhill movements that are exhausting.

"In addition, I also need to stretch. Just like Samo said, I also go to the gym once or twice to build strength, just to run a bit. Yes, to become stronger because Mr. Emil has already warned us. The location will be like this, and he has shown us a bit. There will be several scenes where we have to go up and down, up and down," said Beby.

Samo Rafael added that the change in his skin color was done on his own initiative to better embody his character. He did not want to look pale during scenes set in intense war situations.

"I think I was just more self-aware. Because I seemed too pale back then. So I was more into tanning while swimming to get a bit darker. Because it wouldn't make sense for us to be on the battlefield there and suddenly appear looking pale, so I tanned more," added Samo.
