Seeing Her Son Handcuffed and Treated Like a Criminal, Adam Deni's Mother Cries Uncontrollably

Kapanlagi.com - The trial of the privacy rights violation case with defendant Adam Deni Gearaka resumed at the North Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (29/3). The agenda of the trial was the reading of the interim decision on the exception filed by Adam's party on Thursday (24/3) last week.

During the trial process, the panel of judges stated that the defendant's objection was rejected. Apparently, the legal team had predicted this beforehand.

"Honestly, we already knew that this exception would be rejected. We have also agreed that we do not expect it to be accepted," said Herwanto, the legal representative of Adam Deni, after the trial.

1. Argument with Prison Guards

After the trial ended, there was a confrontation between Adam Deni's legal team and the prison guards. The legal team requested that Adam be allowed to speak to the media for at least five minutes, but the prison guards refused for safety reasons. The negotiation ended in shouting and chaos.

"The first trial was not a problem, the second and third trials were not a problem, why is it now so chaotic? It is said to be for safety. If he is afraid to guard someone just for safety, don't be a prosecutor. They already know their job of guarding the defendant, they should anticipate what could happen," explained Herwanto.

2. Adam Deni's Mother Cries

Seeing her son in handcuffs and treated like a terrorist suspect, Susiani, Adam Deni's mother, could only cry. Even to have a short conversation with her son was difficult.

"Every time he comes, he's usually taken to the back, I go straight there, but I can't find him. Suddenly he's brought up (to the court) in handcuffs, I'm shocked. He's not a criminal, why is he being treated like that? I even had to chase after him to give him food," said Susiani, unable to hold back her tears.

3. Witness from the Prosecutor's Office

As his exception was rejected by the judges, Adam Deni's trial will continue with the agenda of witnesses from the Prosecutor's Office. Herwanto emphasized that his team would walk out if only four out of the ten witnesses were brought in.

Adam Deni Gearaka's case began from a Story post on his Instagram account. The social media activist showed a document of the purchase of a bike belonging to the Deputy Chairman of the House Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni.

Because of that, Sahroni reported him to the police. Adam was charged with Article 48 Paragraph (3) jo Article 32 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) as amended and supplemented by Law Number 19 of 2016 Jo Article 55 Paragraph (1) ke-1 of the Criminal Code.
